Day One Decisions

Can Define Your Case

Starting strong matters. The first days after an injury are when critical evidence can be preserved—or lost. Photos of the scene and vehicles, surveillance footage, 911 audio, witness names, medical records, and even electronic data (event data recorders/“black boxes,” ELDs, phone logs) can shape liability and damages. Preserving this material early helps establish what happened, who’s responsible, and how the injury affects your health, work, and daily life.

The right personal injury attorney coordinates this process from day one: sending preservation (“spoliation”) letters, securing scene and vehicle inspections, collecting medical documentation, managing insurance communications, and tracking expenses and lost wages. You’ll get clear guidance on what to document, which deadlines apply, and how to avoid common pitfalls—so you can focus on treatment while your case is built the right way.
